The martial artist and actor who starred in ‘The Karate Kid,’ followed in his father’s footsteps.

McQueen died Monday at his home in Reno, Nevada, according to his manager. McQueen’s manager did not offer a cause of death.

Chad McQueen was born on December 28, 1960, in Los Angeles, California. His father was the legendary actor Steve McQueen, and his mother was actress Neile Adams. McQueen began his acting career at a young age, appearing in his first film, “The Reivers,” in 1969. He also appeared in “Junior Bonner” (1972) and “Papillon” (1973) with his father.

In 1984, McQueen starred in “The Karate Kid,” which became a classic film. He played the role of Dutch, the karate student of Mr. Miyagi (played by Pat Morita). The film was a huge success, and it helped to launch McQueen’s career as a martial artist.

McQueen continued to act in films and television shows throughout his career. He also competed in martial arts tournaments, and he won several championships. In 2005, he was inducted into the Black Belt Hall of Fame.

McQueen is survived by his wife, Jeanie, and his two children, Steven and Chelsea.
